Jardines del Real, commonly known as Viveros Park, is one of Valencia’s largest, oldest, and most versatile green spaces. When families reach out to me looking for a family photographer in Valencia, finding a location that allows children to run, explore, and feel completely at ease is always my top priority. Viveros provides exactly that. With its wide tree-lined avenues, rose gardens, and historical ruins, it offers a rich, textured backdrop without ever feeling restrictive.

Recently, I had the pleasure of documenting a beautiful family of four here. With an older daughter eager to explore the ancient trees and a little brother taking his proud, wobbly first steps, this park proved to be the absolute perfect setting for their dynamic.

Perfect for Little Explorers and First Steps

One of the biggest advantages of Viveros Park for family sessions is its layout. Unlike locations with steep steps, crowded paths, or nearby traffic, Viveros is expansive, flat, and deeply shaded by massive canopies.

For this session, the vast, even pathways were a dream for the youngest son, who was just discovering the joy of walking independently. I was able to step back and capture his parents gently guiding him by the hands, documenting these fleeting, precious milestones naturally. Meanwhile, there was plenty of space for his older sister to run, spin, and play freely, allowing me to capture her genuine laughter rather than asking her to sit still for a posed portrait.

Capturing Authentic Family Dynamics

A great family gallery is about balance. It’s about getting that beautiful portrait of everyone smiling together, but it’s mostly about the in-between moments: a father tossing his daughter in the air, a mother comforting her toddler, or siblings sharing a quiet moment on a park bench. Viveros Park naturally encourages this kind of documentary-style shooting. The environment is so varied that we can easily transition from the classic elegance of the monumental fountains to the relaxed, wilder feel of the pine groves - all within a short walk.

Styling Your Viveros Park Session

Because Viveros is incredibly lush and green with pops of historical stone and terracotta, wardrobe choices can really elevate your final gallery.

I recommend warm earth tones, soft neutrals (creams, beiges, whites), or muted earthy greens and rusts. Natural, breathable fabrics like linen and cotton look beautiful against the park’s organic textures. Most importantly, ensure the kids are wearing comfortable shoes. This is a location meant for moving, walking, and playing, and their comfort is the key to happy, relaxed photographs. I always provide detailed styling assistance to help you coordinate your family’s look effortlessly.

FAQ: Planning a Family Photoshoot in Jardines del Real (Viveros)

Is Viveros Park a good location if my kids are very active?

Absolutely. It is arguably one of the best locations in Valencia for high-energy children. The park is vast, meaning kids have the freedom to run and play safely without the constraints of a highly structured or crowded environment.

What time of day is best for a session here?

Early mornings or late afternoons (golden hour) are ideal. Because the park has so many ancient, towering trees, the sunlight filters beautifully through the leaves, creating a soft, magical glow that is incredibly flattering for portraits.

Do we need a permit or to pay an entrance fee?

No, entrance to Viveros Park is completely free for the public, and we do not need a special permit to shoot family portraits here. We can simply walk in and enjoy the space.

What if my toddler gets tired or needs a break?

We never rush. A family session is entirely led by your children's moods. Viveros has plenty of benches, shaded lawns, and quiet spots where we can pause for a snack, a cuddle, or a quick rest before we continue.
