Is there a specific fee or permit required to shoot in Port Saplaya?

No, the walkways, canals, and beaches of Port Saplaya are public spaces. Unless we are requesting access to a private boat or terrace, no special commercial permits or location fees are required for personal photography sessions.

 

Does the location get too crowded with tourists?

During the peak summer months (July and August) and on weekends, the marina and beach can get very busy. To ensure privacy and clean backgrounds in your images, I highly recommend scheduling your session on a weekday.

 

What is the best time of day to shoot here to avoid harsh shadows?

 

Because the buildings are tall and tightly packed along the narrow canals, the midday sun creates extremely harsh, unflattering shadows. We strictly schedule sessions here either in the early morning for soft, diffused light, or in the late afternoon leading into the golden hour.

 

What wardrobe colors work best against the brightly painted buildings?

To avoid visually clashing with the vibrant red, yellow, and blue facades, I recommend wearing neutral tones (whites, creams, blacks, or denims). If you want a more editorial look, a single, bold, contrasting color works exceptionally well, but heavy, multicolored prints should be avoided.
